The Ravenna Gorge Hike itself is only 8 km long – but we have included lots of stops, therefore it can take half a day before you get back to the starting point – depending on your fitness level. If you are a fit person, calculate 3-4 hours round-trip. If you take breaks, have a picnic on the waterfalls or just want to take it easy, consider more time.

From Strasbourg, this full-day trip will bring you to the Black Forest, one of the most emblematic regions of Germany. Your day will include the visit of the spa city of Baden-Baden, a stop and free time for lunch/coffee break (not included) at the inescapable Mummelsee Lake, the largest, deepest and highest of the seven cirque lakes. On your way back, you will follow the wine route of the Badischerweinstrasse, the longest in Germany.

It offers a great discovery of the nature of the island. During this hike we will discover different viewpoints from which we can contemplate different parts of the park and its surroundings. Half-way up our climb, we discover the “Mare aux Joncs Gorge” that we like to call the “Bats Valley” because of the thousands of Mauritan Fruit-Bats we can observe there. On top of our ascension, at 400m above sea level we get an amazing sight on the West-Coast, its lagoons and beautiful villages amountains. From there, we start our back back down to the river where we can stop to enjoy a nice swim before continuing to the parking lot of the park.

In a respectful manner, we will observe this animal from a spectacular observation post. We would like to précise you that black bears are wild animals and live into thé Forest. We are in nature we have to be patient. We are going to try to observe some of them. But we want to remain you that those bears are savage and we are not in a zoo, we cant controle nature and we cant certify that we are going to see them. Because they are free to move. We are into their environnement. But a lot of other animals can be seen as wolf, loon, beaver and so one.. So keep an eye opened to see one of them !
