This is it! This walk will give you a fuller idea of the real beauty of this island. Rock formations seem to want to reach the sky like endless sculptures. Along the way the views are simply breathtaking. Numerous plants have their habitat here, and it is to see them dress proudly in a multitude of colors in small flowers for all to see. Near Pico Ruivo we pass through the oldest heather forest. These old trees count for hundreds of years already and they already existed when Zarco arrived at the Island. From here to Pico Ruivo (the highest peak on the island) is just a step away – take advantage and dazzle yourself with magnificent views of the island. A fascinating walk through breathtaking landscapes designed for true explorers!

The fantastic peaks walk you will definitely not want to miss before going back home. On a clear day, or when walking above the clouds, you can take in all the superb views of the highest mountains. There will be some tunnels along the way, flash lights will be provided. We will end at the Achadas do Teixeira were our bus will await to transport back to the Hotel.

Our Pickups begins bright and early, with pickups starting from 5:30 a.m. in summer and 6.am in winter seasons, We'll pick you up from your location and transfer you to Pico do Areeiro. After enjoying the awe-inspiring sunrise, we'll arrange a pickup at the other end, allowing you to hike at your own pace. You'll start your hike from PICO DO AREEIRO to PICO RUIVO carkpark at Achada da Taxeira. Once you've completed your hike, will be waiting to transport you back to Funchal, ensuring a comfortable and convenient return journey. This excursion is ideal for adventurers and mountain lovers. Many people travel to Cape Verde and come to the island of Fogo especially to climb the majestic volcano "Pico de Fogo". This ascent allows you to reach… the highest point in Cape Verde! This magnificent volcano still in activity rises to 2829 meters above sea level. The level of difficulty of this climb is difficult. You need to be in good physical condition. You will be accompanied by an experienced local mountain guide. In terms of sensations, the climb can be a challenge for some. But be aware that a great reward awaits you at the top: total tranquility and a spectacular panoramic view. The descent of the volcano on the volcanic ash is very pleasant and jovial. This 12km Challenging walk has a duration of about 5 hours and connects two of the highest peaks of Madeira Islands, this is a stunning walk, involves tunnels, and some steep ascents and descents, with fabulous views of the central core of the mountains.  This Challenging walk connects two of the highest peaks of Madeira Island, Pico Ruivo (1862 m) and Pico do Areeiro (1817 m), crossing part of the Central Mountain.

This walk starts at Pico do Areeiro, at approximately 1818 meters above sea level and we make our way to the highest point of Madeira, Pico Ruivo, around 1861 meters. It is possible to witness panoramic views of Madeira over the central mountain range that are absolutely breathtaking. This is the only known breeding site in the world of Zino’s petrel (Pterodroma madeira), an endemic species considered to be the most endangered seabird of Europe. In this area, the vegetation of altitude is predominant, mainly of Centenary endemic Urzes; these large trees predate Madeira’s discovery. To reach Pico Ruivo, we must go around Pico das Torres up a steep incline of steps carved in the rock and then descend, the most difficult part of this trail being the final climb to the Shelter at Pico Ruivo. But the thought of reaching the highest point of the island is a driving force. Near the Pico Ruivo shelter, we take footpath, which leads to Achada do Teixeira, where we finish our journey.

This experience is good for our physical, mental and social health. We will reach the highest and most beautiful viewpoint in the city, called the Pico del Águila and the highest point of the city reaching 3,930 meters above sea level. An experience that they must live at least once in their life. At the end we will have a surprise in recognition of your effort.

This hike, in the crater of Chã das Caldeiras, allows you to climb to the small crater formed by the volcanic eruption of 2014. It is the youngest crater on the island: the small Pico. In this lunar landscape, vegetation (endemic plants and vines) manages to grow here and there. What a contrasting colorful landscape! Another sadder vision is the observation of the destruction caused by the lava flows rejected by this small crater. The inhabitants of the village show courage and are back after leaving their buried homes. Somehow, they rebuild their lives next to the volcano, for which they have great respect. This hike offers a festival of the senses. Visual, olfactory (smell of sulphur), an almost silence touched by the breath of the wind. And finally this contact with this soil of rocks and lava: everything is there to live an exciting "volcanic" experience. IMPORTANT: Minimum of participants: 2 people
