You will need your own car on this tour which you will be guided along with an audio program and marked destinations throughout the first commercial wind farm in Southern Calfornia. Once booked, we send you an email confirmation along with an App download and instructions. The tour starts with a display yard of non-operating wind turbines of successes and failures, along with a stop to a real generating wind turbine where you can get up close and take pictures. The tour ends with a stop at the Indigo Power Plant and retired wind farm. There you can exit on 19th Avenue to Indian Canyon Road and leave with more knowledge about renewable energy! We will investigate the spirits that linger near the Oldest Wooden School House on St. George Street with exclusive access to both the gardens and the School House itself. This building is documented on tax rolls since 1716 and was bought by Juan Genopoly in 1780. Genopoly was an indentured person who came to the Turnbull Plantation to grow and process indigo. He became a merchant and his family lived in the building. In 1788 the school was started with teaching both boys and girls. The last graduating class is believed to have ended in 1864. Come and explore the grounds carefully, using all of the tools paranormal investigators use. You can bring your own or select one from our assortment of tools available. Make sure you bring your camera and take photos! We are determined to solve why those who have departed this life refuse to leave the area! This is a real paranormal experience. I'm a Hmong mother of 4 children and I've lived in Ta Van, Sapa my entire life. I started working as a guide, running treks in the mountains and rice terraces when I was a teenager. I love my family and my community, and I have been working hard to make a better life for all of us. I love sharing with my guests the local Hmong culture. I've practiced Hmong textile traditions for more than 15 years. In recent years, I've also traveled to villages in the mountainous northern Vietnam to learn more about traditional textiles and natural dyes of different ethnic groups. Hmong batik and indigo dye is an art that I love so much, and I run this workshop because I deeply feel the responsibility to preserve it and to share it with more people.

Learn about the history of indigo batik among the Hmong tribe in Sapa. Discover how the Hmong people started using batik and how it has become a part of their traditional dress. Create your own batik piece to take home with you. Before the workshop starts, listen to the guide explain the process and how the Hmong people started with batik. Hear how the people who went into the forest to collect honey came across forests of indigo and got caught in wax and indigo, which turned their clothes black. When their clothes were washed, the wax came away and the original white color was left on those pieces of cloth, while the rest turned blue. The Hmong people thanked the bees for this discovery and to this day patterns of bees are drawn onto the traditional dress.

The Jain traders re-introduced Rajasthani elements in Delhi’s architecture. The long running verandahs of these havelis, their austere courtyards, and heavily decorated drawing rooms mark a period of socio-cultural transition.
