Koh Yao Noi is located in the middle of Phang Nga Bay with its sister Koh Yao Yai. Because of the programs offered by the island’s local residents, like the eco-friendly homestay program, the island was received the World Legacy Award from National Geographic Traveler magazine and from Conservation International in 2002. This award was one of the main reasons why the island started to gain worldwide attention. Koh Yao Noi (Yao Noi island) is a piece of heaven, this beautiful island can take your breath away. The island is only a 30 minutes ride by speedboat from Krabi. There is no public transportation on Koh Yao Noi but you can easily hire a taxi or a motorcycle to explore the island. Plenty of trips from Ao Nang is available daily from the main pier to Koh Yao Noi “Manoh Pier”. Manoh Pier is the main arrival point in Koh Yao Noi, and It is also where you can hop on one of the many longtail boats to the neighboring Koh Yao Yai.
Koh Yao Yai, which translates to Big Long Island is an amazing and beautiful island located halfway between Krabi and Phuket and in the midst of Phang Nga Bay. Its name contradicts Koh Yao Noi which translates to Small Long Island. However, that is not the only difference between the two islands as Koh Yao Yai is less developed and two times bigger than its sister Koh Yao Noi. It is known for its lush landscape and beautiful coconut groves as well as having opportunities for snorkelers and swimmers to delve into the emerald waters. Plenty of trips from Ao Nang is available daily from the main pier to Koh Yao Yai “ Chong Lard Pier”. Chong Lard Pier is located in the northeast of the beautiful island Koh Yao Yai. You can easily book a taxi from the pier to your hotel or to any other place on the island. Speedboat trips are available on this pier to/from Phang Nga Bay, Phuket, and Krabi. Chong Lard pier, a beautiful and small pier but it is definitely a good-looking pier and customers are happy with its services.
Transportation to Koh Yao Noi or Koh Yao Yai is pretty easy by speedboat, including pickup service at your hotel. It’s 30 minutes journey from Ao Nang to Koh Yao Noi and 40 minutes from Ao Nang to Koh Yao Yai.
