Itinerary

Day 1: Ayutthaya World Heritage Site – Chaosamphraya Museum – Ayothaya Floating Market

Stop At: Ayutthaya Historical Park, 196 Moo 4 Khlong Tho Rd, Tambon Pratuchai, Ayutthaya 13000 Thailand
The Ayutthaya Historical City was founded in 1350 with the total area is 1,185 acres and used to be the former second capital of Thailand. It flourished since 14th to 18th centuries and become one of the world’s largest and most important cosmopolitan. It was located on an island surrounded by three rivers connecting the city to the sea and being destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. Its remains, ruins of pagodas, towers, buildings and monasteries, remind us to its past splendor. According to this tour, three most important places to get explored are; Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Splendid Omniscient, was the holiest temple on the site of the royal palace. It was the grandest and most beautiful temple in the capital and served as a model for the Emerald Buddha temple in Bangkok. Secondly, Wat Maha That or the Monastery of the Great Relic located in the central part and stands on the west bank of a canal which has been filled up in the early 20th century. It was one of the most important monasteries not only the religious center but also its proximity to the Royal Palace. And the last but not least, Wat Chaiwatthanaram located opposite the South West of the island on the other side of the Chao Phraya river was constructed in 1630 by King Prasat Thong. It was regarded as one of the grandest monuments of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. The temple was built according to the concepts of the Hindu mount Meru symbolizing the Buddhist Universe and Hindu cosmology.

Stop At: Chao Sam Phraya National Museum, Ayutthaya 13000 Thailand
The Chao Sam Phraya National Museum exhibits artifacts discovered during several old temple’s excavation and restoration in Ayutthaya. The museum name is given after Chao Sam Phraya, Ayutthaya Kind ruled during the 15th century. There are a thousand items displayed including Buddha images, votive tablets, gold artifacts, wood carvings, gold ornaments and other treasures showing the craftsmanship of Ayutthaya artisans found from the temple’s crypts.

Stop At: Ayothaya Floating Market & Elephant Village, 65/12 Moo 7 Pailing Pailing Subdistrict, Ayutthaya 13000 Thailand
Ayothaya Floating Market: it offers the ways of life of the locals along the canal. Even though only established just a few years ago, this charming community lets you retrieve what things look like in Siam 600 years ago. Along the waterways, you find the authentic Thai wooden houses on a spacious area located on a traditional floating market. This market has a retrospective
ambience and abundant of food shops, souvenirs, local products, crafts and a lot of stuff, you name it. You may find everything imaginable here.

Day 2: Bang pa-in Summer Palace – St. Joseph Church – Rangchorakae Canal

Stop At: Bang Pa In Palace, Ban Len, Bang Pa-in 13160 Thailand
It lies beside the Chao Phraya River dating back to the 17th century when King Prasat Thong ruled the Ayutthaya kingdom that a palace was firstly built. A contemporary chronicle informs that the site had been abandoned during late 18th century. King Mongkut is the first one who gave a new life as a summer palace. However, King Rama 5th seriously restored Bang Pa-In as the palace and most of the important buildings, such as Aisawan Dhiphyaasana, Wehart Chamrunt (Heavenly Pavilion), Ho Withun Thasana (Sages’ Lookout) were built between 1872-1889 AD. as being seen nowadays.

Stop At: St. Joseph’s Church, 30 Mu 11 Tambon Samphao Lom, Ayutthaya Thailand
The Catholic St. Joseph’s church was founded in 1666 AD and located on the Chao Phraya river’s banks opposite the historical island. It used to be the center of the French Catholic mission for about a century before the Burmese invaded Ayutthaya in 1767 AD. The restoration and renovation took place several times, still nowadays St. Joseph’s is in use. The outstanding things should be admired are its clock tower, the beautifully decorated dome, the stained glass window with the Romanesque style that are what the St. Joseph’s has to offer.

Stop At: Sena, Sena, Ayutthaya Province
It has been established in 2002 by a group of local people who lives in the area and aim for preserving the Rangchorakae’s natural environments and canal (klong) in their community. Nowadays, this local canal becomes the preserved tourist attraction that bring visitors back to what Thai ways of life used to be in the old days several hundred years ago. Life along the canal’s banks give you both tranquility and peaceful scenery. Various kind of birds flying across the sky around the area is like the paradise for birds watching lovers. The rural area’s fertility crowded with trees and farms certainly sets you apart from the busy life in the city. Birds nets on the trees, wooden Thai classic houses, paying respect to the local Buddha images and daily local life along the canal are relaxation and make you calm down from the world outside.
