What to Expect When Visiting Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand

Stop At: Wat Phra Singh, Singharat Road Phra Sing Subdistrict, Chiang Mai Thailand

Your guide and driver will be meet you at your hotel at 0800 for your Magnificent Buddhist Temples of Chiang Mai Day tour. We will drive to Thapae Gate where your samlor driver waits for you. You will visit some very famous but also some lesser-known temples that are located within the Old City of Chiang Mai.

Wat Lam Chang with its very old brick chedi is our first destination. Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai’s oldest temple dating back to 1296, is very close. We continue to Wat Phra Singh, probably Chiang Mai’s most revered temple.

After Wat Phra Sing we continue to Wat Phuak Hong, with its characteristic Mon style chedi. Next is Wat Phuak Taem where local people make ornaments for temple roofs by hand. Very interesting. After this we will visit the Chiang Mai Gate market, the biggest market located in the old city. You will taste some of the local delicacies before we continue by samlor to Wat Chedi Luang. with its giant chedi. An earthquake in 1545 damaged the giant chedi. Was Phantao is a beautiful wooden temple that is next to Wat Chedi Luang. We will say goodbye to our sailor drivers and continue by vehicle for your afternoon tour.

Stop At: Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Doi Suthep 50200 Thailand

We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will continue to the foot of Doi Suthep mountain where we will stop at the statue of Kruba Srivichai. He was nicknamed the “engineer monk. His followers constructed the road up to Wat Doi Suthep. This is Chiang Mai’s most famous temple. From the temple you have a fantastic view over Chiang Mai. On the way down we will stop at Wat Palad, a seldom-visited temple hidden in the forests.
The last temple of the day is Wat Chet Yot, the temple of the seven spires. Few tourists visit this unique complex. The main structure is Maha Chedi, which was inspired by the Mahabodhi Temple of Bodh Gaya in northern India, where Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, attained Enlightenment. This is not the only interesting building on this beautiful and impressive complex. Drive back to the hotel where your Chiang Mai Temples day tour ends.

Wat Chet Yot aka the temple of the seven spires is our last destination today. Maha Chedi, which was inspired by the Mahabodhi Temple of Bodh Gaya in Northern India, is the main structure. In Bodh Gaya Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, attained Enlightenment. Very few tourists visit this unique and sprawling temple complex. After Wat Chet Yot we will drive back to the hotel where your guide will drop you off.
