Overnight will be in a Palong village. On the second day we will make a relaxed trek in the forest around the village. On the way back to Chiang Mai we will visit Buatong Waterfall aka the “Sticky Waterfalls”.

Itinerary

Day 1: Whitewater rafting, zipline and hiking

Stop At: Mae Taeng, Mae Taeng
Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel for your two days Sticky Waterfall and Hilltribes Adventure. Chiang Dao is our destination today. Our first stop will be a local market. Here your guide will do some shopping for the coming days. Please remind him if you are a vegan or vegetarian or have other food preferences. The Mae Malai market is a fascinating place to walk around. Continue to the Mae Taeng area. Enjoy a 45 minute whitewater rafting experience by rubberboat.

After your whitewater raft adventure you will fly from tree to tree by zipline. First you will get safety instructions. You will cross the Mae Taeng River by zipline which is an exciting experience.

Stop At: Chiang Dao, Chiang Dao
These activities will surely make you hungry. Enjoy a local lunch before we start trekking. We hike through the forest to a village of the Dara-Ang people, which will be our final destination today. Your guide will explain about the flora. The Dara-Ang people are known in Thailand as Palong. About 40 years the political situation in Myanmar forced them to move to Thailand. Their dress is colourful. Feel free to explore the village before dinner. You can also assist your guide to prepare dinner. After dinner your guide will explain about the culture of the Dara-Ang people. Overnight will be in a bamboo house.

Day 2: Hiking and Sticky Waterfalls

Stop At: Chiang Dao, Chiang Dao
Life in the village starts early. Be prepared for an early rise. After breakfast you will the option to buy some small souvenirs. Before we start our morning hike your guide will introduce you to the weavers of the village. We will also pas through a garden with lots of fruit trees. The hike this morning is fairly easy. There are some nice views along the way. We walk to a Lahu village where we will visit an interesting spirit temple. From this village we drive to a Karen village where we will stop for a short while. Your guide will explain about the Karen people who have been living in this area for centuries.

Stop At: Bua Thong Waterfalls (Nam Phu Chet Si), Moo 8 Mae Ho Phra, Mae Taeng 50150 Thailand
We drive to Phrao where we will have lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch it’s time for some relaxation at the Buatong Falls aka Sticky Waterfalls. This waterfall is set in an attractive jungle setting. You can walk up or down the falls. It’s limestone so it’s not slippery, hence the name “sticky waterfalls”. You can bathe in these falls and enjoy the crystal clear water. It’s a fitting end to your two day adventure in Chiang Dao. We drive back to Chiang Mai where we will drop you off at the hotel.
