Stop At: The Little Amazon, Thailand

An early start of the day: your guide and driver are eager to show you around of parts that have not yet been explored by tourism. The morning is reserved for touring the Little Amazon, a hidden part outside of Ta Kuapa. This region used to be thriving at the time, dredges and boats sailed up and down stream; now totally void of any commercial activities for decades, the sound of nature and various animals are the background noise, with hundreds of giant Banyan Trees growing freely along the river banks. It is wise to keep an eye out for wildlife, as it is a region where one can spot various fauna.

For an even more up-and-close view, you will board prepared kayaks for a trip over the Klong Sung Nae River that snakes through the trees and plants, finding ultimately its way into the ocean. We will not go that far as lunch will be waiting for us at a local restaurant before moving on to Ta Kuapa itself.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Takuapa Square, V993+P36, Bang Nai Si, Takua Pa District, Phang-nga 82110, Thailand

The last part of the day is dedicated to Sri Takua Pa, the Thai name of the old part of Ta Kuapa. This district was once a trading area between Chinese, Thai and Sino-Portuguese tradesmen and was for quite some time main centre of the regions then lucrative tin industry. Nowadays, the Chinese influences remain present and giving character to Ta Kuapa, where locals keep holding on to traditions that have been passed on for generations. Few buildings are left of the times when the streets of Ta Kuapa were filled with workshops and when Sino-Portuguese architecture ruled the town centre. But as your guide will guide you through the streets, you may see still some landmarks that remind you of these times.

At the end of the afternoon, it is time to leave the town behind and drive back to your Khao Lak resort.
