-Kanchanaburi Ancient City Wall Door
Founded during the third emperor of Thailand (1831 AD), it was used to defend the town from the invasion of Myanmar’s enemy forces. The brick wall has a width of 210 meters and a length of 480 meters. The original 6 forts were the largest, with the west fort being the largest. This ancient city wall has been officially certified as a national heritage in 1935, and has a precious historical status.
-Kanchanaburi Heritage Walking Street
There is a 100-year-old heritage pedestrian street in the old town of Kanchanaburi. It was formerly a lively commercial and trading area during the Second World War. With the shift of the town’s center of gravity, it has now become a quiet neighborhood with noisy corners and few tourists. The old pedestrian street is narrow, but it is very exciting along the way. There are various styles of buildings, such as traditional single-storey two- or three-story street houses with Portuguese, Chinese, and Thai characteristics. They have all witnessed the Second World War and survived. Centennial building.
A sign was erected in front of the old house, telling the history and architectural characteristics of the street. To this day, there are still many residents living in it, and some buildings still retain the style of the first floor as a storefront and the second floor or more as a home. They continue to operate grocery stores, and some old houses have been converted into restaurants and coffee shops. Old furniture and nostalgic style.

The River Kwai Bridge is one of the most famous historical attractions in Kanchanaburi. During World War II, in order to prevent the Thai people from being severely affected by the war, the Thai King promised to assist the Japanese Imperial Army in Thailand. The Japanese army used Allied prisoners of war to build a railway that passes through the forests of the Thai-Burma mountain area to provide Japanese military supplies in Myanmar. At that time, a large number of Allied prisoners were killed by labor, which is a rather heavy historical memory. The River Kwai Bridge was originally a wooden bridge. It had been blown up during the war. The iron bridge now seen was rebuilt later. Today, trains still pass by. Standing on the Bridge over the River Kwai, watching the beautiful River Kwai under it, it is difficult to imagine the fierce fighting at that time, and I hope the world will always be peaceful.
Crossing the Death Railway
During World War II, the Japanese forces forced Allied prisoners of war to build the Thai-Burma Railway. In addition to the Bridge over the River Kwai, there was a section of the “Death Railway” built next to a steep mountain wall. Due to the difficult construction, many lives were sacrificed during construction. We will take a train of about 20 minutes to pass through the Death Railway with the most magnificent scenery and the most rigorous section of the project. The train travels on a suspended wooden railway, with cliffs on one side and the River Kwai on the other. At the same time as the camera shuttered, the history of the railroad tracks underneath was more remembered.
-Lunch on the River Kwai
Leisurely and romantically dine at the River Kwai restaurant, enjoy the beautiful scenery at the best location of Linhe, eat the seafood caught by the River Kwai, and combine the dishes of local ingredients. Fresh ingredients are always particularly delicious, and time seems to pass more slowly, making people feel at ease and relaxed.
