Patong is a beach resort town on the west coast of Phuket Island, facing the Andaman Sea in the southwest of Thailand. Its sandy, crescent beach is lined with cafes, restaurants and bars. The famously raucous nightlife scene features beer bars, go-go bars, nightclubs, massage parlors and cabarets that overflow into the street along neon-lit Bangla Road and in the Patong OTOP Shopping Paradise complex.

Karon is a resort town on the west coast of Thailand’s Phuket Island. It’s known for Karon Beach, a long stretch of white sand. Wat Suwan Khirikhet is a Buddhist temple guarded by 2 large snake statues. The temple complex hosts the twice-weekly Karon Temple Market, which sells sarongs, jewelry and street food. To the southeast, the towering white marble Big Buddha statue has panoramic views over the island.

Hard to miss by the side of Yaowarat Road (which runs by Tesco Lotus, on the way towards Phuket Town), it has a distinctive look created by the use of colourful shipping containers as shopfronts.

Bangla Road really comes to life after sunset. The road is closed to traffic and becomes a 400-metre festival of neon lights, loud music and cheap beer. Jammed most nights of the year, it is quite a friendly and lively place to walk around as bars and clubs compete with each other for customers.
