Canal Park

This unique tour of the Panama Canal goes from the Pacific to the Atlantic ocean as you see the canal from the water and by foot. An exciting boat ride down the canal will introduce you to the transiting ships as well as the abundant wildlife on its shores, followed by a visit to Fort San Lorenzo and the new Agua Clara Locks. This is not a TRANSIT tour, we wont travel by boat inside the locks.

To start this tour, We will drive through the Soberania National Park in our way to the Town of Gamboa, during this drive we have chances to stop and see Sloths in the wild. We will follow the Panama Canal north to the town of Gamboa, where the Chagres River meets the canal. We will ride along the waters of the Panama Canal right next to the ships passing through on their way to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Our destination is Gatun Lake, where we will cruise around islands created during the canal construction and see the abundant wildlife on its shores. Where we can see capuchins, howlers, and tamarins up close in their natural habitat. Once we finish with our canal and lake boat ride (around 1.5 hours), we will return to Panama City for hotel drop off.

This enchanted and secluded park is the save heaven of many different species of while life not only native of Costa Rica, but to the Americas. Tortuguero is considered the most important nesting site on the western half of the caribbean for the green turtle that comes to the beach to nest every year. . Please note that the nesting tour only takes place at night and you will not see turtles nesting on the beach during this one day tour.

The vast jungle area that is now the Gatun Lake was full of wildlife. As the region was flooded, animals took refuge in the mountains that are now islands. You will slowly cruise the back channels, islands and bays that make up this unique system. Exotic birds, capuchin monkeys, sloths, iguanas and crocodiles are just a few of the animals that you will see. The tour finishes with a visit to the Summit Zoo, a little rescue center of native animals, where the harpy eagle is the main character, as it is our national bird.
