The ancient walled city of Girona stands on a fortress-like hill, high above the confluence of the Onyar and Ter rivers. As the provincial capital it has a long and distinguished history. Founded by Iberians, the Romans later named it Gerunda and established it as an important stopping point on the Via Augusta, linking Iberia with Rome. The huge 15th century cathedral, boasting the widest unsupported gothic arch in the world, dominates the skyline, yet much of the city's attraction lies in exploring the mediaeval streets, especially around the charming Jewish quarter. You will be able to cross the Onyar River through the bridge built by Gustave Eiffel " Pont de les Peixeteries Velles" one of the most populat monuments of the city. The Girona Art Museum houses the most important art collection in Girona, with unique works of Catalan art. The visit allows one to contemplate, in chronological order, pictorial and sculptural works from successive periods and styles (Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, realism, modernism and noucentisme). The tour of the permanent exhibition opens with a fragment of an early Christian tombstone from Empúries, and among the most relevant pieces in the collection are the liturgical complex of Sant Pere de Rodes (9th century), the Martyrology of Usuardo (miniature book from the s. XV) and one of the most notable altarpiece sets of the XV-XVI centuries. From February 25 to January 28, 2024, the temporary exhibition "Explosions of an instant, 70s. The contribution of the artists to the art collection of the Avui newspaper" is available. The old episcopal palace is, after the Cathedral, one of the most monumental buildings in the city.

The Tomàs Mallol Cinema-Collection Museum is a permanent, non-profit institution, open to the public as a space for scientific, cultural and recreational participation of citizens, and at the service of society and its development. Its origin is found in the acquisition of the Tomás Mallol Collection of cinematographic and pre-cinematographic objects by the City of Girona on January 28, 1994. Its mission is to favor the understanding and knowledge of the history of the moving image and of the cinema through the conservation, investigation, interpretation and exhibition of various collections, whose objects explain how the images were represented before the cinema and what was the technical process that led to the invention of the cinematograph in 1895.
