Situated in the posh Qaiser Bagh area of Lucknow, this royal residence of the present Raja Muzaffar Ali is a living museum of art and craft. Essentially a painter, poet and film-maker, Muzaffar Ali is known for his classic film Umrao Jaan. Enjoy a meal specially curated by Muzaffar Ali and his wife Meera Ali. Kaiserbagh Palace indeed did not have any parallel anywhere in the world. Kaiserbagh Palace Complex was in fact the most well planned works of grandeur by Wajid-Ali-Shah, the last ruler of Awadh, who himself was a great connoisseur of art in all its forms and the same innate personality reflected in his palace. Kaiserbagh later became a victim of British revenge, after the failed uprising in 1858, when the British recaptured sieged Lucknow and the ruler Wajid-Ali-Shah was deposed to Calcutta. As a consequence and revenge of the toughest time that the British forces had here, Kaiserbagh was unmindfully demolished. Today sadly, only a few structures remain to be seen and it is indeed very hard to imagine that once it was, the world’s most beautiful palace complex. On this walking tour we explore the Kaiserbagh Palace Complex, reconstruct the area with the help of old pictures and maps and as a cherry on the cake, we treat you over a cup of tea  

Kotwara House is owned by Muzzaffar and Meera Ali.  Muzzaffar is an Indian filmmaker, fashion designer, poet and artist. He belongs to the Muslin Rajput royal house of Kotwara and is the current Raja of Kotwara.  His wife, Meera Ali is an architect and fashion designer. They have created an international couture label, “The House of Kotwara”. On this tour, you will see their workshop for their label and interact with highly skilled artisans.  Clips from Muzaffer’s classic films are shown as you have a cup of tea/coffee. This is a private two hour walking tour of the Kaiserbagh Palace complex. This historic Palace is considered one of India’s beautiful royal buildings. It was planned and built by the Rajput ruler, Wajid-Ali-Shah in the mid 1800s. Your tour will also take you to the Kotwara House, now the home of famous Indian filmmaker, Muzaffar Ali.
