One of Ketchikan's best locations for spotting bald eagles, seals, and whales from land, this beach is known for its rock and tide pools. At low tide, you can walk the beach and find dozens of different types of crabs, starfish, urchins, and sea anemones. You might even see an octopus. On the drive to, or back from, the excursion, stop by Totem Bright State Park for a self-guide visit to learn about local Alaskan Native culture. And of course, see some totem poles. Running through the heart of London; the River Thames has played a central role in the history of the city, and when the tide is low, the capital’s longest archaeological site is revealed! We will have about 1h 30mins on the foreshore at low tide before the tide starts to come in. We visit the foreshore at various places along the River Thames throughout the year. The days we can go down onto the foreshore depend on the tide being low. I'm also limited as to when I can take people down to the foreshore. We will look for historical objects along a stretch of the foreshore.  You won't be allowed to scrape or dig, just eyes only. This is a great activity for children, but have to be accompanied by an adult if under 16 years old. I'll be holding up a 'Thames Beachcombing' sign when we meet.

This 2-hour introductory paddle on the Edge of America will get you into the basics of SUP, all in the calm flatwater of the Folly River. All safaris begin with "ground school" or SUP instructions with your Lifeguard Certified Instructors. We'll explore alongside the numerous beautiful native birds and bottlenose dolphins. We'll go with the flow, following the tides and wind direction for a great beginning paddle. At low tide we visit a private beach and go for a swim!
