(Tuesday to Sunday) – After the hotel pick up ( around 5:30 AM) we drive you to Pico do Arieiro where we will enjoy the Sunrise around 7 AM. This is the highest viewpoint of the island at 1818 metres of altitude. See the sunrise while enjoying a hot cup of coffee/tea, a luxury only our clients will have as there are no coffee places open at that time. You can choose a few varieties of coffee, as we have sugar and milk on the side, and we have 3 varieties of tea. You can enjoy all of this as it is included in our price (Tuesday to Sunday) We have toasted sandwiches(ham and cheese) , homemade cake all done by our catering team, you will not go hungry 🙂 After all of this we go back to the area of Camacha and go for a lovely levada walk(available Tuesday to Saturday) in the Paradise Valley area, it should take you about 40 minutes to complete. If the weather/visibility conditions are not good enough to see the sunrise in Pico do Arieiro we change the sunrise spot to another area.

The fantastic peaks walk you will definitely not want to miss before going back home. On a clear day, or when walking above the clouds, you can take in all the superb views of the highest mountains. There will be some tunnels along the way, flash lights will be provided. We will end at the Achadas do Teixeira were our bus will await to transport back to the Hotel.

Our Pickups begins bright and early, with pickups starting from 5:30 a.m. in summer and 6.am in winter seasons, We'll pick you up from your location and transfer you to Pico do Areeiro. After enjoying the awe-inspiring sunrise, we'll arrange a pickup at the other end, allowing you to hike at your own pace. You'll start your hike from PICO DO AREEIRO to PICO RUIVO carkpark at Achada da Taxeira. Once you've completed your hike, will be waiting to transport you back to Funchal, ensuring a comfortable and convenient return journey. This 12km Challenging walk has a duration of about 5 hours and connects two of the highest peaks of Madeira Islands, this is a stunning walk, involves tunnels, and some steep ascents and descents, with fabulous views of the central core of the mountains.  This Challenging walk connects two of the highest peaks of Madeira Island, Pico Ruivo (1862 m) and Pico do Areeiro (1817 m), crossing part of the Central Mountain.

On this amazing sunrise tour, it is a small group guided walk, Maximum 8 travellers, an amazing experience to see the day starting on the more amazing sunrise spots, often above the clouds. Beating away the big groups, we will have the mountain to ourselves

Leaving the hotel, we reached Pico Arieiro in 45 minutes. When we arrive and get a comfortable spot where the sunrise begins, there is pure magic happening right in front of us. We are above the clouds, and Mother Nature welcomes us with a display of her splendor. Shades of orange and purple tear through the blue sky and reflect on the clouds below us. Little by little, it is possible to see the sea and the green mountains emerging between our views. After sunrise, we will descend to a campsite to discover the enchanting Levada de Balcoes. Pick-up is 90 minutes before sunrise.

Enjoy a roundtrip transfer from Funchal to Pico do Arieiro and from Ecological Park of Funchal back to the accommodation. Get picked up at your accommodation in Funchal and dropped off at the entrance to Pico do Arieiro to begin your self-guided hike. Walk from Pico do Areeiro to the top of Madeira Island in a hiking tour full of emotion and marvellous landscapes.

This walk starts at Pico do Areeiro, at approximately 1818 meters above sea level and we make our way to the highest point of Madeira, Pico Ruivo, around 1861 meters. It is possible to witness panoramic views of Madeira over the central mountain range that are absolutely breathtaking. This is the only known breeding site in the world of Zino’s petrel (Pterodroma madeira), an endemic species considered to be the most endangered seabird of Europe. In this area, the vegetation of altitude is predominant, mainly of Centenary endemic Urzes; these large trees predate Madeira’s discovery. To reach Pico Ruivo, we must go around Pico das Torres up a steep incline of steps carved in the rock and then descend, the most difficult part of this trail being the final climb to the Shelter at Pico Ruivo. But the thought of reaching the highest point of the island is a driving force. Near the Pico Ruivo shelter, we take footpath, which leads to Achada do Teixeira, where we finish our journey.

On this tour we leave Funchal in the direction of Poiso with an altitude of 1412m and then climb through the mountains to Pico do Arieiro at a height of 1818m. This is one of the most beautiful places with breathtaking views of the island of Madeira. We stay here for a while and walk a little. We then descend to Ribeiro Frio where we are in the Laurissilva Forest and we visit the trout nursery. We continue our adventure along old paths passing Cedro Gordo and Cruzinhas until we reach the Village de Santana where we will visit the typical straw houses (Colmo). After this stop we descend to the village of Faial with amazing views down to the sea and then continue towards Ponta de São Lourenço in the east of Madeira. This part of the Island is much drier and arid, but with a unique beauty due to its cliffs and colors.
