River Trips

Starting at Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch, you and your group will kayak down a scenic five mile stretch of river as it moves it's way through the Tonto National Forest. Participants often witness wild horses, birds and other wildlife that cool off in the river during the summer months.  We have the special privilege of being the only kayak rental company located right on the Salt River, so our trips launch directly from our site. Each reservation includes a kayak (or with advance request a paddleboard), paddle, PFD/personal flotation device and return shuttle to starting site. This is an UNGUIDED kayaking experience. While this is primarily a scenic float there are sections of swift water and kayakers often tip out – so be prepared to get wet.

The trip includes a visit to the infamous bridge on the River Kwai, built by Allied prisoners of war (POW) during World War II. It includes a visit to a war cemetery containing the graves of an estimated 9,000 Allied soldiers who died while building the bridge and constructing the notorious -Death Railway-. At the JEATH Museum, guests will see a replica of a Japanese POW camp, followed by a train journey along a stunning stretch of the -Death Railway-. This serene section of the Colorado River moseys through a big beautiful valley lined with monuments, before cutting through a towering red rock canyon that meanders back toward Moab. Along the way are some of Utah’s most impressive geologic features like Fisher Towers, Castleton Tower, the Priest and Nuns, and so on. As for the waters here along the Colorado River, it stays pretty warm from late spring to early fall. You’ll spend most of your time floating, with a few Class II rapids to cool you off along the way. The perfect way to get out Paddleboarding with others in total confidence under the watchful eye of one of our instructors. This is a great trip to do if you're looking to get more time on the board, build confidence and have a lot of fun with other like minded people. We take it easy and will probably stop for tea (and cake!) somewhere along the way. All led by one of our expert instructors so if you want to improve your technique or ask any questions they'll be right there to help you out.
