Ushiku Daibutsu

Tokyo: Hitachi Seaside Park/Kairakuen & Ushiku Daibutsu & Mentai

Our adventure begins with a hassle-free departure from either Shinjuku L Tower or Tokyo St. Our first stop is the either [3/5 – 4/11] Kairakuen OR [4/14 – 5/14] Hitachi Seaside Park. Kairakuen is one of Japan’s top three gardens with over 3,000 plum trees blooming in shades of white, pink, and red. The Mito Plum Blossom Festival attracts visitors with stunning views, tea ceremonies, and seasonal events. While Hitachi Seaside Park, rolling hills covered in baby blue nemophila in spring, also features a Ferris wheel and open fields, making it a perfect place to unwind. Next, we visit Mentai Park Oarai, a unique food-themed attraction dedicated to mentaiko (spicy cod roe). Take a fascinating factory tour to see how this famous delicacy is made, and indulge in fresh mentaiko tastings. Our final stop is Ushiku Daibutsu, marvel at one of the world’s tallest Buddha statues, soaring 120 meters high. Visitors can explore its serene gardens, see seasonal flowers, and even feed koi fish.
