Wat Chaiwatthanaram is a Buddhist temple in the city of Ayutthaya Historical Park, Thailand, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, outside Ayutthaya island. It is one of Ayutthaya’s best known temples and a major tourist attraction

Stop At: Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam), Phratuchai Subdistrict, Ayutthaya 13000 Thailand

Wat Lokayasutaram is located at Tambol Pratuchai, Amphur Pranakornsriayuttaya, Pranakornsriayuttaya. The location is near the Royal Palace and Wat Prasrisanpetch which are both the centers of the Ayuttaya Kingdom. Therefore, this is another important temple in Ayuttaya. This temple has another name called Wat Pra Norn. Inside the temple, there is the biggest reclining Buddha in Ayuttaya.

The Temple is located along Khlong Sra Bua and the north bank of the Khlong Mueang or as know as Lob Buri River just opposite the ancient Grand Palace. It was received the name Wat Phra Meru Rachikaram, the old temple outside the city area. As its name indicates, it must have been established at a Royal cremation area during the later Ayutthaya period. Remarkably, this temple was not destroyed when Ayutthaya was lastly defeated by Burmese troops.

Located to the Southeast of the Island, this Temples lofty chedi is visible from most of the town. The monastery was built in 1900 by King U Thong who granted the temple with the name Wat Pa Kaew. The intention was to create a center of Buddhist studies (Ceylonese Sect). As the temple used to be headed by a patriarch, local people also called it Wat Chao Phraya Thai.
