Be picked up from the comfort of your accommodation Ponta Delgada and start by visiting a local pottery factory. View a colorful assortment of pots, cups, tiles, and plates at the Cerâmica Vieira pottery factory. Travel to the Fogo Lake and take in its verdant shores and turquoise waters. Head to the hot springs of Caldeira Velha for an hour of free time where you can purchase a ticket to soak in the waters of the hot springs. Stop for a quick lunch break in the center of Ribeira Grande, for some traditional dishes. After lunch make a stop at Gorreana, the only tea plantation in Europe. Admire the lush green layered crops before continuing to 4 viewpoints where you can take pictures of the highlands and the coast. The excursion starts early in the morning at your Hotel, we start on the south coast, visiting Vila Franca do Campo and its Historic center, we go up to the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Paz (built in 1764) where you can see a panoramic view over the village, in this locality you can find the famous Queijadas of the village. we continue south towards the magnificent village of Furnas where you can visit and bathe in the lush thermal waters. We continue to Lagoa das Furnas where we will visit Lagoa, a place surrounded by fumaroles and boilers. A magical place is in this same place that we will see the famous Cozido, which is found in holes of about one meter, after having lunch and then visiting the Boilers and mineral waters where you can taste each one. The return route is made by the North, visiting the peak of the iron where you can see a view of the lagoon and the furnas at an altitude of 600m, then we stop at Fabrica do Chá, tasting the magnificent São Miguel tea.

An interesting and beautiful hike in one of the sides of the mountain of Lagoa do Fogo. This is a hike filled with tunnels that go from pastured fields with cows to forests with valleys and lush vegetation! In the end of this hike, we will visit one of the main lagoons of the island – Lagoa do Fogo – which is one of the seven wonders of Portugal. This hike takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes to finish and it is around 7.6 km (4.7miles) long with an easy/medium difficulty level.

On this excursion you will be able to enjoy the second largest lagoon on the island of São Miguel, the Lagoa do Fogo, visit the Liqueur Factory "Mulher de Capote", as well as the opportunity to see some of the island's landscapes during the stop at the Belvedere da Serra da Barrosa!

This is definitely the best way to see as much as possible of São Miguel in a day. The way to go on your short stay, or if you want a throughout introduction to the island before exploring it on your own. To make the experience comfortable and minimize spending hours driving, you can choose to cover the West (Sete Cidades, Mosteiros, Ferraria hot springs) and Center of the Island (Lagoa do Fogo, Vila Franca, Ribeira Grande, Tea and Pineapple plantations; etc.); or the East (all of Furnas area, Ribeira dos Caldeirões waterfalls) and the Center. You will cover a lot of beautiful roads and views along the way – lush green fields, cows, flowers, ocean and cliffs, and plenty of stops to enjoy them. Bathing on hot springs or stopping for lunch is possible although expenses are not included, and please note these activities take about 1h30 of the itinerary. We can take up to 4 participants but please note we drive a 5 seat vehicle.
