Turtle Watching Tour


Playa Minas constitutes one the most important nesting sites in Costa Rica. Large numbers of turtles arrive from October until May and usually at night. For this tour you will be picked up at the hotel and taken to Playa Las Minas where turtles are nesting. Turtle Nesting Night Tour


In one of the most important spawnings and nesting sites in Costa Rica, you'll be able to appreciate in the middle of pure nature, to observe the Green Sea Turtle ( also known as the black turtle) and the Olive Ridley Turtle, could possibly see the very rare Leatherback Turtles. During the warmest months of the year in Guanacaste, we find the peak season (predominantly from October through May), when it's possible especially at night to observe turtles come out of the water, building their nests, laying their eggs, and even can observe sometimes babies hatching and going out to the ocean!! A bilingual naturalistic guide will help you to understand the process of spawning and nesting, a unique experience. Please note : The guide will provide a special infrared light that does not disturb the turtles. No flashlights or flash photography are allowed because light may confuse the turtles.

Many of the turtles can weigh more than 2,000 pounds. 3 Hour Ocean Safari by Zodiac Boat -Whales & Icebergs seasonally


Ocean Safari with us and experience the best of what the season has to offer. Whales and dolphins are our main stay during the season but are usually limited to June through August regularly. Icebergs can be seen usually between April and July when they are passing through. We are part of the UNESCO certified Discovery Geopark. The geology of the area is from the Ediacharan Period of the geological record and holds the fossil record of some of the first life on the planet. We will include this as part of the narration of the area and the wildlife that we see. Though wildlife is never guaranteed our guests can expect to see whales, dolphins, birds and waterfowl in season as well as icebergs, puffins, gannets, eagles and many other birds. Sunfish are a regular sighting in the falls and Leatherback Turtles and Sea Eagles have been seen.


Turtle Watching


Whenever we get a call that a turtle has been spotted you'll be the first to know! We pick you up and take you for an amazing experience. Turtles that can be spotted are Green, Hawksbill, and Leatherback turtles.
