Join us for a remarkable and spectacular demonstration of the Glass Masters of "The Glass Cathedral" which is dedicated to the love of working with Murano Glass. The most complete glass blowing demonstration on the island of Murano surrounded in a one of a kind ambiance ( inside a former XIIth century Church which was a glass factory already in 1826). You will be surrounded by soft music and the beautiful works of Murano Glass.  Here, you will be able to observe the masters at work  and watch as they create two original pieces before your eyes.   The demonstration is 25 minutes long and you may be able to sip a good glass of Prosecco or have a drink while enjoying your stay with us.

The Murano Glass Museum in Venice


The Murano Glass Museum was founded in 1861 when the darkest period in the history of Murano glassmaking had been overcome, following the fall of the Republic of San Marco ( 1797) and the subsequent years of foreign rule. The Murano Glass Museum collection is laid out chronologically on the first floor of the museum. Starting from an archaeological section on the ground floor, which contains noteworthy Roman works dating from the 1st to the 3rd century A.D., it follows to the largest historical collection of Murano glass in the world, with pieces dating from the 15th to the 20th century, many of them world-famous masterpieces.

With this experience, I want to show you what a real glass factory looks and feels like, understand the production process of glass from sand to a bespoke piece, and watch real Murano Glass Masters while they blow glass (explanation in English). What you will experience: First, in the Batch Room the place where it all starts: Here, sand and other chemicals are mixed to perfection to obtain glass that will melt once charged into a 1400°C furnace. Next, in the Hotshop where the magic happens: You will learn about the glass melting process, from chemical mix to molten glass, how the furnaces work, and an overview of all the tools we use. Last, in the Coldshop where the glass starts to shine! You will see all the machines used to carve, drill, cut, flatten, and polish glass.
